  1. Ingredients

    Paste for Mor Kuzhambu:

    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1 tbsp
    Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
    Small onion (shallots) - 4 (roughly chopped)
    Ginger - 1 inch
    Green Chilies - 2 (For more spicy add 3-4 green chilies)
    Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
    Water - 1 cup (or as required)

    For Mor Kuzhambu :

    Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
    Okra(lady finger) - 250 gms(roughly chopped)
    Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 tsp
    Asafoetida (Hing) - 1/4tsp
    Curry Leaves - 1 strand
    Dry red chilli - 2
    Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
    Salt - 1 tsp (or as required)
    Water - 1/2 cup
    Curd - 1 cup

  2. Method of Cooking

    Paste for Mor Kuzhambu :

    In a small bowl, rinse and soak channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1 tbsp in 1/2 cup of water for 30 minutes.
    Keep aside.
    In a blender add grated coconut - 1/2 cup
    Small onion (shallots) - 4 (roughly chopped)
    Ginger - 1 inch
    Green Chilies - 2 (For more spicy add 3-4 green chilies)
    Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
    Add soaked channa dal
    Water - 1 cup (or as required)
    Grind to a coarse paste
    Keep aside.

    Mor Kuzhambu Recipe :

    Heat a Kadai on medium flame
    Add Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
    Okra(lady finger) - 250 gms (roughly chopped)
    Saute 5 minutes or until there is a slight color change and okra turns non-sticky
    keep aside.
    In the same kadai
    Heat Coconut oil - 1 tbsp in medium flame
    Add Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 tsp
    Saute and splutter tempering.
    Add asafoetida (Hing) - 1/4tsp
    Curry Leaves - 1 strand
    Dry red chilli - 2
    Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
    Give a nice mix
    Add the grounded paste
    Water - 1/2 cup (if required)
    Mix well, adjust consistency
    Add Salt - 1 tsp (or as required)
    Give a nice mix
    Once it comes to a boil
    Add fried okra
    Mix well, cover and cook for 5 minutes in low to medium flame
    Stir occasionally to avoid burning
    Allow to cool completely
    Add curd - 1 cup (Beat the curd well before adding, make sure no lumps to have a smooth consistency)
    Give a nice mix, until everything combined well.
