  1. Ingredients:

    For Roast and grind

    Chana dal - 2 tbsp
    Coriander seeds(Dhania) - 1 tbsp
    Pepper - 1/4tsp
    Fenugreek seeds(Vendayam) 1/8tsp
    Redchilli - 3-5nos
    Curry leaves - Few

    For Tomato Gothsu

    Ghee (Gingelly Oil) - 3tbsp
    Mustard - 1/2 tsp
    Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
    Urad dal- 1tsp
    Channa dal - 1 tsp
    Onion (medium size) - 5 nos(Finely chopped)
    Salt - 1tsp (or as required)
    Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
    Hing(Asafoetida) - pinch
    Curry leaves - Few
    Tomato (medium size) - 5 nos(Finely chopped)

  2. Method of Cooking:

    First let's prepare masala powder for Tomato Gothsu

    Heat a kadai,
    Dry Roast all Ingredients in low to medium flame
    Add Chana dal - 2 tbsp
    Coriander seeds(Dhania) - 1 tbsp
    Pepper - 1/4tsp
    Fenugreek seeds(Vendayam) 1/8tsp
    Curry leaves - Few
    Redchilli - 3-5nos
    Dry Roast in low to medium flame
    Turns Aromatic
    Allow to cool completely.
    Transfer to the Mixer.
    Grind coarsely, Keep aside.

    Now let's prepare Tomato Gothsu

    Heat 3 tbsp of Ghee (or Gingelly oil) in a pan
    Add Mustard - 1/2 tsp
    Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
    Urad dal- 1tsp
    Channa dal - 1 tsp
    Saute well
    Splutter Tempering.
    Now add Onion (medium size) - 5 nos(Finely chopped)
    Salt - 1tsp (or as required)
    Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
    Hing(Asafoetida) - 1/8 tsp
    Curry leaves - Few
    Saute until the onions becomes translucent.
    Now add Tomato (medium size) - 5 nos(Finely chopped),
    Saute well.
    Cover and Cook for 10 minutes in medium flame
    (or until tomatoes turn soft and mushy)
    Now add the coarsely grounded powder.
    Mix well.
    Again Cook for 5 - 10 minutes in medium flame.
    Once it doesn't stick to pan switch off the flame.
    Our Yummy Thakkali Gothsu is ready to serve!!!
    Our delicious Tomato Gothsu is ready to serve with hot Idli!!!
