Ingredients:
Gingelly Oil - 4tbsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal- 1tsp
Garlic - 5 cloves (Finely chopped)
Curry leaves - 1strand
Onion (big size) - 1 (Finely chopped)
Salt - 1tsp (or as required)
Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
Hing(Asafoetida) - 1/4tsp
Tomato (medium size) - 6 nos(Finely chopped)
Chilli powder - 1tsp (For more spicy you can add 2 tsp) -
Method of Cooking:
Heat Gingelly Oil - 4tbsp in a pan on medium flame
Add Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal- 1tsp
Saute well
Splutter Tempering
Add Garlic - 5 cloves (Finely chopped)
Curry leaves - 1strand
Saute 30 seconds
(Don't burn)
Add Onion (big size) - 1 (Finely chopped)
Salt - 1tsp (or as required)
Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
Hing(Asafoetida) - 1/4tsp
Saute well, until the onions become translucent.
Add Tomato (medium size) - 6 nos(Finely chopped)
Cover and Cook for 5 minutes in medium flame
Water Releases
Add Chilli powder - 1tsp (For more spicy you can add 2 tsp)
Give a stir
Again Cover and Cook for 15 - 20 minutes in low to medium flame (or until oil seperates)
Stir occasionally to avoid burning
Once it doesn't stick to pan and oil seperates switch off the flame.
Our Tasty Thakkali Thokku is ready to serve!!!
