Ingredients:

  1. Oil - 3 tbsp
    Mustard - 1/2 tsp
    Curry leaves - 2 strand
    Hing (asafoetida) - 1/4 tsp
    Garlic - 6 cloves (finely chopped)
    Tomato (medium size) - 6 nos(roughly chopped)
    Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
    Chilli powder - 1.5tsp
    Kashmiri Chilli powder - 1.5tsp
    Salt - 1tsp(or as required)
    Fenugreek powder - 1/4 tsp
    Jaggery - 1/2 tsp

Method of Cooking:

  1. Firstly in a Mixer jar, add Tomato (medium size) - 6 nos(roughly chopped) in 2 batches
    Grind to a fine paste, keep aside

    Now let's prepare Spicy Tomato Thokku

    Heat Gingelly Oil - 3tbsp in a kadai on medium flame
    Add Mustard - 1/2 tsp
    Add Curry leaves - 2 strand
    Hing (asafoetida) - 1/4 tsp
    Saute and splutter tempering
    Add Garlic - 6 cloves (finely chopped)
    Saute 1 minute
    (Don't burn)
    Add Tomato paste
    Give a mix
    Add Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
    Chilli powder - 1.5tsp
    Kashmiri Chilli powder - 1.5tsp
    Mix well
    Add Salt - 1tsp(or as required)
    Stir well, Cover and Cook for 15 - 20 minutes on low to medium flame (or until oil seperates)
    Stir occasionally to avoid burning
    Add roasted Fenugreek powder - 1/4 tsp
    Jaggery - 1/2 tsp
    Mix well, once it doesn't stick to pan switch off the flame.
    Our Tasty Thakkali Thokku is ready to serve!!!
    Serve Yummy Tomato Thokku with curd rice and potato fry!!!
