  1. Ingredients:

    Pepper corns - 1 tsp
    Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
    Garlic - 5 cloves (roughly chopped)
    Hing (Asafoetida) - 1/4 tsp
    Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
    Tomatoes (medium size) - 2 (roughly chopped)
    Oil - 1 Tbsp
    Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
    Curry leaves - 1 strand
    Dry red chilies - 1 (broken)
    Tamarind - small lemon size (soak in 1/2 cup hot water for 30 minutes)
    Salt - 1 tsp (or as required)
    Coriander leaves - few(finely chopped)

  2. Method of Cooking:

    In a small blender, add Pepper corns - 1 tsp
    Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
    Pulse 3 times
    Now add Garlic - 5 cloves (roughly chopped)
    Hing (Asafoetida) - 1/4 tsp
    Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
    Pulse 3 times
    Grind coarsely, keep aside.
    (Don't add water)
    Now add Tomatoes (medium size) - 2 (roughly chopped)
    Pulse 3 times
    Grind coarsely, keep aside.

    Let's give Tempering

    Heat oil - 1 tbsp
    Add Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
    Splutter Tempering
    Now add curry leaves - 1 strand
    Dry red chilli - 1 (broken)
    Add Grounded mixture
    Saute well for 30 seconds in medium flame
    (Don't burn)
    Turns aromatic.
    Now add Tomato Paste
    Give a nice mix for 30 seconds in medium flame
    Now add Tamarind extract
    (soak small lemon size Tamarind in 1/2 cup hot water for 30 minutes)
    Salt - 1 tsp (or as required)
    Give a mix
    Add 1cup(240ml) water(or as required) adjust consistency
    Give a nice mix
    Once it comes to a boil and bubbles appear, switch off the flame.
    (Don't boil for a long time)
    Add Coriander leaves - few (finely chopped)
    Our South Indian Rasam is ready to serve!!!
    Best combination with hot rice and potato fry!!!
