Oil - 1 tbsp
Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Garlic - 5 cloves
Onion - 2 medium size (roughly chopped)
Salt - 3/4 tsp (or as required)
Dried red chilli - 3-5 nos
Tamarind - small gooseberry size
Tomato - 1 medium size (roughly chopped)
Asafoetida(Hing) - 1/8 tsp
Water - 3/4 cup (or as required)
For Tempering
Oil - 2tsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Dried red chilli - 1 broken
Heat a Pan in medium flame
Add Oil - 1 tbsp
Add Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Saute 1 min, until the dal turns slight golden brown
Add Garlic - 5 cloves (roughly chopped)
Saute 1 min
Add Onion - 2 medium size (roughly chopped)
Salt - 3/4 tsp (or as required)
Dried red chilli - 3-5 nos
Tamarind - small gooseberry size
Saute well, until the onions becomes translucent.
Add Tomato - 1 medium size (roughly chopped)
Asafoetida(Hing) - 1/8 tsp
Saute well, until tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
Turn off the heat and allow the mixer to cool down completely
Transfer to the blender.
Add 1/2 cup water (or as required)
Grind it to a slight coarse paste.
Our Simple and Easy Kara Chutney is ready!!!
Let's give tempering...
Heat Oil - 2tsp
Add Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Dried red chilli - 1 broken
Saute well
Splutter Tempering
Pour tempering over chutney, Mix well.
Excellent Combo with Idli, Dosa, & Uthappam!!!
