Instructions
  1. Ingredients:

    For curry leaves rice powder :

    Curry leaves - 1 cup
    Oil - 1 tsp
    Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp
    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1/2 tbsp
    Cumin Seeds(jeera) - 1/4 tsp
    Tamarind (small gooseberry size) - 1 ball
    Red chilli - 2
    (For more spicy add 3-4 red chilli)
    Salt - 1/2 tsp(or as required)
    Asafoetida(Hing) - 1/8 tsp

    For curry leaves rice :

    Oil - 2 tbsp
    Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
    Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1/2 tsp
    Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsp
    Curry Leaves - 1 strand
    Dry red chilli - 1
    Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
    Cooked Seeraga Samba rice - 2 cup
    (or rice of your choice)
    Salt - 1 tsp (or as required)

  2. Method of Cooking:

    For curry leaves rice powder :

    Heat a kadai on low to medium flame
    Add curry leaves - 1 cup
    Dry roast for 1 - 2 min
    (Don't burn)
    Keep aside
    In the same kadai
    Heat Oil - 1 tsp on medium flame
    Add Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp
    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1/2 tbsp
    Cumin Seeds(jeera) - 1/4 tsp
    Tamarind (small gooseberry size) - 1 ball
    Give a nice mix
    Add red chilli - 2
    (For more spicy add 3-4 red chilli)
    Roast until the dal turns golden brown
    Turns aromatic switch off the flame
    (Don't burn)
    Allow it to cool completely and Transfer to Mixer jar
    Add the roasted curry leaves
    Salt - 1/2 tsp(or as required)
    Asafoetida(Hing) - 1/8 tsp
    Grind it to a slight coarse powder without adding water
    Our curry leaves rice powder is ready, keep aside

    For curry leaves rice :

    Heat a kadai on medium flame
    Add Oil - 2 tbsp
    Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
    Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1/2 tsp
    Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsp
    Curry Leaves - 1 strand
    Dry red chilli - 1
    Splutter tempering and roast until the dal turns slight golden brown
    Turns aromatic
    (Don't burn)
    Add Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
    Give a nice mix
    Add prepared curry leaves rice powder
    Give a stir
    Add Cooked Seeraga Samba rice (cool the rice completely) - 2 cup
    (or rice of your choice, you can also use leftover rice)
    Salt - 1 tsp (or as required)
    Mix gently, so that rice will not break. (make sure the spice powder is combined well)
    Cover and cook on low flame for 5minutes, so that rice absorb the spices well.
    Mix again gently.
