Oil - 1 tbsp
Urad dal - 1 tbsp
Garlic - 3 cloves (roughly chopped)
Small onion - 1/2 cup (roughly sliced)
Hing (asafoetida) - 1/4 tsp
Tamarind - small gooseberry size
Salt - 1tsp(or as required)
Tomato - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Redchilli - 4-5nos
Curry leaves - 1cup (roughly packed)
Coconut - 1/2cup (grated)
Water - 1/2cup (or as required)
For Tempering
Oil - 2tsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 strand
Redchilli - 1
Heat a kadai on medium flame
Add Oil - 1 tbsp
Urad dal - 1 tbsp
Saute 1 min, or until the dal turns golden brown, Keep aside.
In the same kadai add Garlic - 3 cloves (roughly chopped)
Saute 30 sec
Add Small onion - 1/2 cup (roughly sliced)
Give a mix
Add Hing (asafoetida) - 1/4 tsp
Tamarind - small gooseberry size
Salt - 1tsp(or as required)
Saute well, until onion becomes translucent.
Add Tomato - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Redchilli - 4-5nos
(For more spice you can add 7-8 red chilli)
Saute for 1 min
Add Curry leaves - 1cup (roughly packed)
Saute well, until tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
Coconut - 1/2cup (grated)
Saute 30 sec
Turn off the heat and allow the mixer to cool down completely
Transfer to the blender.
Grind coarsely
Add 1/2 cup water (or as required)
Grind it to a slight coarse paste.
Our Simple and Easy Karuveppilai chutney is ready!!!
For Tempering
Heat Oil - 2tsp in medium flame
Add Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Saute and Splutter Tempering
Add Curry leaves - 1 strand
Redchilli - 1
Give a nice mix
Pour tempering over chutney.
Iron rich Curry leaves chutney is ready to serve!!!
