Instructions
  1. Ingredients:

    Javvarisi (tapioca / Sago) - 1/4 cup
    Milk - 3.5 cup
    Brown Sugar (white sugar) - 1/4 cup (or as required)
    Ghee(Clarified butter) - 2 tsp
    Cashews(kaju) - 2 tbsp
    Raisins(kishmish) - 1 tbsp
    Cardamom powder(Elachi powder) - ¼ tsp

  2. Method of Cooking:

    For Soaking:

    In a small bowl
    Add Javvarisi (tapioca / Sago) - 1/4 cup
    Rinse the Javvarisi
    soak Javvarisi in Milk - 1/2 cup for 1 hour.
    (soaking time will minimize the cooking time)
    Keep aside.

    Creamy Javvarisi Payasam Recipe:

    Heat a non-stick kadai on medium flame
    Add Milk - 3 cup
    Stir occasionally (so that it doesn't stick to kadai)
    Once it comes to a boil add soaked Javvarisi along with the milk.
    Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the Javvarisi turns translucent.
    Stir occasionally to avoid burning
    Once Javvarisi turns nice and soft
    Add Brown Sugar (white sugar) - 1/4 cup (or as required)
    Let it cook for another 5 minutes
    Stir occasionally to avoid burning
    Keep aside.

    Let's give Tempering:

    Heat a small pan on medium flame
    Add Ghee(Clarified butter) - 2 tsp
    Cashews(kaju) - 2 tbsp
    Saute well, until Cashew nuts turns slight golden brown
    Add Raisins(kishmish) - 1 tbsp
    Once raisins puffed up
    Add the tempering to the payasam
    Give a nice mix and allow to boil for a minute on low to medium flame.
    Add Cardamom powder(Elachi powder) - ¼ tsp
    Once it comes to a boil switch off the flame.
    Our Creamy Javvarisi Payasam is ready to serve!!!
