  1. Ingredients:

    For Grinding:

    Oil - 1 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 tbsp
    Red Chilli - 3 (for more spicy add 5-6 nos)
    Tamarind - small gooseberry size
    Hing - 1/8tsp
    Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
    salt - 1tsp
    Coriander leaves - 3 cup (rinsed, roughly chopped and roughly packed)
    Water - 1/2 cup

    For Tempering:

    Oil - 3tbsp
    Mustard - 1/2 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 tsp
    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1 tsp
    Roasted Peanut - 2tbsp
    Curry Leaves - 1 strand
    Jaggery - 1/2 tsp (optional)
    Water - 1/4 cup

  2. Method of Cooking:

    For Grinding:

    Heat a kadai on medium flame
    Add oil - 1 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 tbsp
    Red Chilli - 3 (for more spicy add 5-6 nos)
    Tamarind - small gooseberry size
    Roast until the dal turns slight golden brown
    In a Mixer-jar
    Add roasted ingredients
    Hing - 1/8tsp
    Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
    salt - 1tsp
    Grind to a slight coarse powder without adding water
    Now add coriander leaves - 3 cup (rinsed, roughly chopped and roughly packed)
    Water - 1/2 cup
    Grind to a fine paste
    Keep aside.

    Let's give Tempering

    Heat oil - 3tbsp
    Mustard - 1/2 tsp
    Urad dal - 1 tsp
    Channa dal (Kadalai paruppu) - 1 tsp
    Roasted Peanut - 2tbsp
    Curry Leaves - 1 strand
    Splutter tempering and roast until the dal turns slight golden brown
    Pour the paste.
    Water - 1/4 cup
    Adjust consistency
    Saute well, for 2 - 3 minutes on low to medium flame
    Add Jaggery - 1/2 tsp (optional)
    Cover and cook on low to medium flame for 5 - 7 minutes(or until oil seperates)
    Stir occasionally to avoid burning
    Top with Roasted cashews (optional)
